For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:11-14

The Future of Food

This video was shared on another blog...several actually...and after spending the last two days watching parts of it as I could, I knew I had to share it as well. If you've watched it, GREAT! If you haven't, take some time to watch this. It's heartbreaking to know that greed, love of money and short sightedness has brought about so much destruction to the food that GOD made to nourish and strengthen us from day to day. Man, in our arrogant nature, has decided to play God...how foolish we can be.

I pray that after watching this, you are not left feeling hopeless. We do NOT have to continue to support companies and corporations that care nothing for our future or about what is ultimately right. They are out for more money....my goal is to not give them any of mine. Is it a hard choice....YES...does it mean more work for me...Yes! I'm not afraid to work harder for what I have...if I did, I wouldn't be living this life...

I will take time to watch this!! I have been thinking quite a lot lately about food and what God has provided. My dad was recently diagnosed with diabetis and I began to wonder about the whole thing. He has had high cholesterol for years and years and my mom's response was to take all dairy, eggs, red meats etc. out of his diet (and she was strict!!!) After rereading the creation story I realized that God made livestock AND wild animals (they are separated by those terms in Genesis) and God called them good!! So the food that the livestock provided (eggs, dairy etc.) are good!! Then we humans feel the need to either eliminate or modify (remove fats, homogenize etc.) these foods God gave us!! Crazy!! Makes me really wonder about the explosion of things like diabetis - even Christians sometimes without realizing it make "science" more important than it should be!!! Sorry to ramble so long - you just posted something that has added to what I have been thinking about for a few weeks. Hope your week is wonderful!!! Thanks for sharing this!!!

Blessings,
Christine

I haven't seen this one yet...I think it available on Netflix so I will definitely either come back or check it out there. Food, Inc. was enough for me to get on the real foods bandwagon.

Oh man, I don't know if I want to watch it. So depressing that more people don't know and don't care about the foods they buy. We already do as much as we can not to buy food from the store. I'm sure I know just about everything in the video but maybe watching it will make me even more vigilant....then instead of a 95/5 gal I'll be a 99/1! :)

Providence Acres will produce as much as it can for sustainability on our little 3 acre plot.
I'm right there with you, Valerie. We've gotta stick together and do what we can to fight this.
